New quotes about choice added 01 January, 2012

To be Master of the Universe (in other words, to be master of your own personal universe) choose "what is so".

Denise Linn

It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

JK Rowling

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet

… no one does anything they do not want to do.

You always have a reason – and usually, a pretty good one – for doing what you are doing and choosing what you are choosing. Be careful not to convince yourself that you are doing something against your will. Such a thing is impossible.

Therefore, be honest with yourself as to why you are choosing to do a particular thing. Then, do it gladly, knowing that you are always getting to do what you want. The statement “I have no choice” is a lie. You can choose. You simply do not prefer the alternatives available to you, for whatever reason. So you select the outcome that you most prefer.

Neale Donald Walsch

Make a decision and then make the decision right. Line up your Energy with it. In most cases it doesn’t really matter what you decide. Just decide. There are endless options that would serve you enormously well, and all or any one of them is better than no decision.

Abraham-Hicks, from a workshop in Orlando, Florida, USA on February 21, 1998

Cravings are going to occur to you. So here’s the rule of thumb about eating, or about investing in the stock market, or about anything else: If the impulse comes from a joyous thought that feels good, follow it. If the impulse comes from an uncomfortable thought that felt bad, don’t follow it.

Abraham-Hicks, from a workshop in Portland, Oregon, USA on July 13, 2002

We want you to breathe rather than try, to relax rather than offer effort, to smile rather than struggle, to be rather than do.

Abraham-Hicks

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr (see works by and about Martin Luther King)

The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.

Flora Whittemore

Your choices today determine your tomorrow and you make your life through the power of choice.

Kathy Smith (Exercise Expert) author of Kathy Smith's Moving Through Menopause: The Complete Program for Exercise, Nutrition, and Total Wellness

When you cannot make up your mind which of two evenly balanced courses of action you should take - choose the bolder.

WJ Slim

Each moment is a moment of choice and your commitments keep you true to yourself, choice by choice.

from Fearless Loving: Eight Simple Truths That Will Change the Way You Date, Mate, and Relate, by Rhonda Britten

Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made.

Wayne Dyer, author of Real Magic: Creating Miracles in Everyday Life

That something happened to you is of no importance to anyone, not even to you. The important thing about you is what you choose to make happen – your values and choices.

Ayn Rand (1905-1982) Russian Writer and Libertarian Philosopher, author of We the Living

Decisiveness is a characteristic of high-performing men and women. Almost any decision is better than no decision at all.

Brian Tracy, American trainer, speaker, author and businessman

It’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Chinese proverb (see more Chinese proverbs)

If you refuse to change your job (if you don’t like it), the only sensible thing you can do is practice loving it every day.

Wayne Dyer

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.

Viktor Frankl

Choice is the exploration of desire and then the selection of action. In every moment, you are choosing either to align yourself with your own true path, or to veer away from it. There are no neutral actions. Even the smallest gesture has a direction to it, leading you closer to your path, or farther away from it, whether you realize it or not.

Pure actions – like spending time with a beloved friend – bring you into alignment, whereas false ones – such as spending time with someone you really don’t like, but to whom you feel obligated – alienate you from your truth. Every choice you make carries weight.

Decisions are made in your mind, whereas choices are made in your gut. Decisions come from the rational, reasonable weighing of the circumstances, choices come from your essence and attunement with your higher self.
